Default Lens for family pics

Hi,

Not a newbie as the info says on the left but not been on for ages and email adress change and getting old and forgetful has made me had to ditch that account..

Was looking for advice on a nice little lens for family pics, will be used in low light indoors and outdoors also. range about 2 -5 metres.

Have a 400D and the old standard lens which is ok but would like one with more light so do not have to use flashes etc..

Many thanks

Cal

50mm 1.4 or 1.8 head and shoulders. If you need more flexability and Tamron 17-50 2.8 non VC. For a lot more money a Canon 17-55 f2.8
