However, Asian people are much smarter when it comes to lens purchases. Not many run out to buy L glass when a Sigma or Tamron will get them pretty close, but much cheaper in price. However, in photo clubs, you do see a fair amount of L glass.
I agree with him on that one.

Here in the Philippines i mostly see P&S and entry level DSLR's. 90% of the entry level DSLR's i saw has the 18-55 from both sides... o.o

I've noticed that a lot here in Korea. Lots of third party lenses.

Eh?! (in response to original topic). I don't think Paris and London (2 of the 3 largest tourist capitals in Europe) are respresentative of what cameras Europeans use......

its £3000 here in UK and in the states, even if u add up all the vat/tax u can throw at it, it comes to around £2500.

Its not just a saying when people say UK people get screwed over. we ACTUALLY DO GET SCREWED OVER . on almost everything. not just electronics products. but mortgages/rent, petrol etc etc etc. you guys in america are lucky.

Furthermore, if you appeared at a school play etc with such a camera, even if it was allowed by the school, you would almost certainly attract extremely negative attention from some of the other parents.

Don't know who you are, where you are or what you are but I can assure you, BS it aint. Even my adult son calls my 70-200mm L a "Paedo Lens". You try turning up, as a parent, at a school sports day in this country with a big white lens and you will be challenged. Sad but true.

Then you'll be arrested, tried for assault, disrupting the peace, and something to do with children, and sent to jail for a good few years, while someone who has actually committed a crime, say rape, will get off after a few months. Thats how it works in the UK at the moment.

Not only the cameras are often more expensive but the salaries are lower than in the US as well, at least in France. People cannot afford to buy those cameras.

Edit: forgot to add. Most things are also more expensive over here than in the US: gas for your car, food etc... So there's even less money left to spend on leisure stuff.

One thing about photography. It helps if you're a "people person"...

Never forget, whatever the rights and wrongs of other folks' suspicions, you don't have an automatic right to take pictures on private property. So, they'd just, politely, escort you off the premises.

I'm afraid you can...
EDIT: Also, as soon as you start slagging them off, you bring yourself down to their level. It's always better, in my opinion at least, to be the 'better guy' in a conflict, especially if you're in the right!
