Congratulations, Linda, and all the rest who managed such wet looking shots!

Marie, I really liked the girls' expressions and posture in your shot, and they definitely looked rained upon, but I, too, had doubts that the rain looked entirely natural, so I'm glad you explained.

Of course it never rained here the entire week, and I don't have archive shots of miserable weather, so I had to process the heck out of an old storm cloudscape to get an entry anywhere near rainy looking.

I loves me the Channeled Scablands, I'm sure there's not a member of this forum that wouldn't enjoy a weekend out shooting in these environs.

I liked the window shots and Plover's really caught me..I think there might be a tighter crop there. Congrats to Linda looking forward to what she comes up with for this week.
Ha! If only, Paul.....
If I could stop the drizzle we probably wouldn't be able to lay claim to "The Emerald City" name anymore. Something tells me "the Smoky Topaz" city just wouldn't catch on.

Well, I think the rain must've lost its bearings - it feels like it's been constantly raining here & we are actually a very dry part of the country & was issued with a hosepipe ban a few weeks ago as we are in a "drought" ..... do you want your rain back? ! LOL It was extremely wet when I visited Bath last weekend and I did seek refuge in the warmth of the tourist coach for the city tour! A beautiful city, very photogenic....despite the rain!
Thank you, Linda and Marie, for the votes of confidence. I've been into photography for quite some time and I have to admit that taking photos may just be a bit easier than judging them.

When I saw this topic I thought yahoo! I can get some good shots for this one. I live about 150 miles north of Seattle at the Wet Coast in the Lower Rainland and it ALWAYS rains here.

Well gee whiz, whats up? We haven't had a drop of rain here since this topic was posted. Nothing! It has been beautiful sunshine and mostly clear skies.
In retrospect, I find it humorously ironic that I chose a topic around rain. It hasn't rained a drop here either since I posted the contest.

Thanks for the kind words and welcome people I've looked at these challenge things before and thought "nah whats the point" but having finally "done it" I can see a great benefit in doing so as it made me go out and purposely take a picture and think about it ( lucky it rained that week). I should add that it was fun too and I quite enjoyed waiting and looking at the others pics.

Cheers, Peter

Welcome Peter to the challenge "family" ....it can get addictive, these challenges, but it is great fun and as they say, practice makes perfect - I know that I have learnt an awful lot over the last couple of years by doing them.

I expect to see a photo in the next challenge, Peter!

Hasn't done anything to improve my personality, but I know now what to do with a camera. I owe it to these folks.

one might think everywhere does, but not necessarily so.
this island somehow suits all kinds of weather.
maybe its in the country's 'genes'

smashing pictures on the site. lovely countryside and great catches ( huge fish)
when clicked on some of the smaller sized pictures jumped back to the site's full page and didn't open up any larger
but all are really lovely anyway

thanks Kevan

I can picture the scene like it happened yesterday. This beautiful young couple standing nearby stepped off the curb, out and away from protection, and huddled romantically together under one of those miserably tiny, virtually disposable, umbrellas and looked back at us and flashed two beautiful smiles at us. The camera was in my hand. I was there and let that pounding rain, the cast of light breaking over the tops of the nearby buildings, and those two beautiful smiles vaporize without bending my freakin' elbow! Damn!
Oh, well...
(sigh)
beautiful scene

.......... sounds like the one that got away

I've seen many a dark cloud looming like it when out walking on the plains and yes, its always a huge downpour coming closer ( most times ) in the near distance . thanks Teekay

Ireland being called the 'Emerald Isle' that rang a bell
lol
a green country and a now a green city.
saw Seattle on TV last night and there were lots of trees between the high buildings. it was a night shot shown from the sky
but the trees could be seen very well
must be partly why it's called Emerald City.
I want to send apologies as I clean forgot to thank you very much for 2nd place
