POTN has become so popular I'm wondering if it's needed to feed your photography love or can you do without it and still fullfill you're fix....

Its more than just feeding me info and entertaining me. I generally like helping people. Albeit people willing to help themselves, hence the sig quote:
GIVE a man a fish and he'll eat for a day. TEACH a man to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime. Ben only helps those who help themselves. So Im not sure I would go as far as to say I NEED it, but my life would be that much the duller without it.

I'm new here and I just found the 2AM threads...
I wish I had something like that to go to in high school.

I have saved so much money by not buying lousy equipment just from the info on this site. I haven't regretted one purchase I've made using research here.
Not to mention what you will learn just by reading. Plus the fact that its pretty friendly as far as forums go. Its not needed but I would be way further behind the ball without it. |

Personally I come on here to look in the areas that interest me, namely landscape, urban, astro, people and glamour. It is good to see what people are doing, where they are going, how they are lighting things etc.
As Madjack mentioned, it is pretty friendly and I also like the fact I can see many different locations all over the world without leaving my lounge room lol (although I'd love to visit a lot of the places. It is such a well rounded forum, it isn't needed but I enjoy coming here.

I started a poll about this very topic about 3 years ago, and it turned out that most people like POTN because they can come in here and talk/learn/compare/advise/be advised/and generally "chill out" about dSLRs (mainly Canon!) any time, any place, with a VERY wide variety of people all around the world, 99.99% of whom really do love photography...
It seemed that POTN really is one big, happy (most of the time), family! Regards, Simon

POTN serves two purposes essential to happiness: knowledge and social interaction
