Hi all!
My son is an 8th grader at our middle school. Every year the school has a going away dance for them known as Gala. My son and 18 of his friends will be renting a limo and I have been designated to take a picture of all of them. How do I position 19 boys for a shot? Do I do them in groups? Do I do candids? Any tips will be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Mike |

For groups that big I like to put them in a big mass, shorter people in front and get up on a ladder or porch and shoot them from above.

You can do the above for a safe shot but then add a little candidness to it. After you shoot that shot, have them walk towards you all at once and you walk backwards at the same time and snap photos as you do. This will create a natural staggering effect and almost look like they belong in a movie if done right. Try not to have clutter in the background or it will through it off. Background should be far way enough so that it is almost completely OOF.
Hope this helps.
