I'm not sure where you got that from, but I haven't read any comments from people having issues with the AF system. I found it simple to use and learn, and that's coming from someone that never used a 7D before.
I guess you dont remember all those "my 7D sucks because it cant focus threads " ,, Thats what i was referring to. I think this system rocks. Really like it because it is user friendly as far as im concerned.

One thing I do love is the new way to switch between AF points, the wheel is so much nicer than the m.fn button because you can go backwards and forwards

Ah, I got what your saying now. I definitely remember those. I took it literally, that people were complaining about the 5D3 AF.

I'm not sure how accurate my statement will be, but I consider the 5D3 AF very close to the 1D X from a technical point of view.

Welcome to the 5D3 club

Yes

This is an excellent feature. Have not tried the HDR, looks pretty cool. Miss not having a grip on it coming off 1D series. Its my wifes camera and she has smaller hands so its going to stay non gripped. Took about 100 shots with it last night at a church event,,,did not miss. Need to play more with servo.

Anyone have an idea why i cant upload these 5D3 files to photobucket ??

screw the wheel, I like the option of using the nubby controller like on a Nikon. Also, I don't remember as many focus threads about the 7D as I do the ISO performance sucking. I find the Mark III straightforward. I've turned off the 61 points as well. Only cross points for me.

I snuck up on my gf taking a shower with my 5d3 on silent mode and she wasn't able to hear it until she turned towards my direction

Two test were done at the same time; silent shutter and weather sealing

I've got the "auto" AF modes turned off. So I have single, spot, and assist points turned on. I am usually in single and sometimes in spot.

I've now used the 5D3 at 4 weddings now. As far as the AF goes, it's impressive. Using the heck out of the DOF preview button to switch to AI Servo and it's super duper consistent. I am impressed. So much so, I don't even worry about it anymore. It's truly just become a tool that I use to capture moments instead of something where I need to worry about using in low light, low contrast situations, etc.

Why was your girlfriend showering with the 5D3? The weather sealing must be quite good. I am sure you are quite good at sneaking up on her, but the fact that she was distracted by playing with the 5D3 in the shower, no wonder she couldn't hear you until she turned around.

(funny how a sentence can take on different meanings depending on how you read it)

*staring at the just-delivered-5D3 box at work and realizing I didn't bring my extra CF card from home*

... guess I'll have to wait until much later tonight to play with it (since I have a CE meeting to attend after work).

*sigh*

She threw her soapy loofah at me and hit the camera dead on. Weather sealing test result: pass
