Default My Morning

I work the 2nd shift so sometimes I try and get up early enough to shoot a few birds and salvage the day.

Today I went to a spot where I know Mallards hang out. There they were, but trying to get into position I scared them off. Well I sat down in weeds just to wait for something to come along and then I heard it.

When I finally located it, there was a small turtle, about the size of a hand. I picked it up and took it over to an area where the grass was cut. I was thinking if I put it in the sun it would come out soon to get out of the sun.

So I laid down about 6 foot in front of it, elbow on the ground to hold up the camera/lens in front of my face, and I waited and waited and waited.

He was watching me watching him. He just about out lasted me, I couldn't take propping up the rig and the sun beating down on me for at least 45 minutes.

Then finally he stuck his head out. But by then I couldn't hold still enough for the IS to help much. Took a few shots, got up and worked my elbow out, then took the patient little turtle to the waters edge.

I was dripping with sweat, my arm hurting and the shots were crap as the grass was too high for the little turtle anyway.

But for some unknown reason, I enjoyed it.

Yupe. Nothing else matters as long as you enjoyed what you are doing (in photography i mean, and legally )
I find myself talking to these wildlife while photographing (or waiting to photograph) them. Right, sometimes it takes some sweet and blood, but hey, that's how great story gets attached to each image.

Thanks for sharing yours.
