Default friends wedding

Ok i had some friends that got married last year, i had never shot a wedding before i was just there as a guest and then there photographer didn't show up and i had my camera with me so i stepped up and did what any good friend would do, i kept telling my self if i can shoot a metal concert i can do this same chaos just not as loud. well this was the outcome the photographer showed up just really late but i kept shooting. let me know what you think for a first time (more than likely crap)

Not bad for your first time =D I just had my first wedding a couple of days ago also!

However, first thing I noticed is that everything's too centered. You can crop #4 so that they're a little off-centered.

They aren't bad. Your exposure is pretty close and colors aren't far off. They could use a little editing tweaking (especially the black and whites, which feel flat and gray) but they do seem a little snapshottish. I can't view your EXIF but a narrower DOF would have helped. A 50mm and 70-200mm are more than acceptable lenses to do what needs to be done.

Having been a first time and having done it on the fly I think you should be proud of yourself! I am sure the couple will be more than happy to have these shots.
If you spend a little bit more time in post you'll be able to make these shots pop.

Especially considering the circumstances you described, I think these are quite good. Exposure, colors all that stuff is nice.

I would crop in on some of these...in 1, 2 and 3 the stuff around the sides just isn't doing anything for you, so I would probably crop in tighter on those. 3 is a good example of what someone above said about getting some more background blur. There is a little too much background detail givent the purpose of the shot. Your subjects are far enough away from the background (tree, building) so that with the right aperature you could get a nice blur going and eliminate the distractions of these details.

On the B&W, I agree that it is a little flat. Did you shoot in RAW? I think you should be able to play around with the contrast, blacks and brightness to get a little more contrast and pop to this. Since your starting colors and exposure were good, you should be able to retrieve a great B&W as well.

I don't go anywhere near photographing weddings, so kudos to you for doing a good job and a noble deed under, errr, less than desirable circumstances.

yes it was shot in raw and i shot it pretty much at f5.6 or so i think for the one of the bride and her dad coming down i know have a 135L which if i had it before it would be quite a bit better

Is that the "Pro" bouncing his flash off the trees in #2?
It's hard to tell if these are in focus but at least they got some pictures of their wedding. Looks like they have an adventurous like ahead.
