Default Some Butterflies

Still Working to get better at exposure. I love taking butterflies, hope to get a macro lens some day! I took these with a 70-200 2.8 IS in the butterfly gardens at my house.

I don't feel like I get the sharpness of the legs and such that most of you get. On these first 2 I captured some in flight, but not with good sharpness.

Really nice shots.

I was at a butterfly house today and first tried shooting with my 70-200 f/4 IS and found the focusing distance to not be adequate. I switched to my Sigma 18-50 f/2.8 (quasi-macro) and got better shots.

Thank u both.

El duderino: I used to shoot with a 50mm 1.4 bc it was all I had. I did like the sharpness much better. I visited a butterfly house in Key West and used that lens. I think the 70-200 would not be good like u said, for something indoors like that. These I shot outside. I planted tons of butterfly attracting plants but this particular bush they love is about 6' tall and 5 wide. The 70-200 on this let's me somewhat stay put.

I recently got a tAmron 28-75 2.8 and shot with it today with good results. I'll post some pics later on

I've also found they are skittish of peoPle at first. After about the first week not so much, and I can get closer with the 50 and smaller lenses. 2 days ago one let me reach out and scoop it on a finger!
