I've been wondering this too...a 500 f/5.6L, built similar to the 400mm f/5.6L would be a dream come true.

If Sigma did a reasonably priced 500 F4/ F4.5 OS lens with the image quality of the current version I'd buy it.

Why Sigma hasn't updated their 500 & 800 is a mystery.

I've heard rumors that they may be updating the 300 and 500 primes to include OS. Dunno. :P

And just to throw it out there, the 50-500 OS is no slouch:

I have found that all the zooms have good copies and not so good copies.
I guess the trick is to get a good one.
