Default first few pics from my T2i and a newb

just picked up a canon T2i on a trade with the kit lense, 8gb class 6 card, and a 16gb class 10 card. this is my first post and my first pictures. i have photoshop cs6 and i really dont know where to start on editing pictures and then specifically for astro.

i have been playing with the settings in manual mode, aparture, shutter speed, and iso. i dont which type of metering i should be using and i've heard when your shooting the moon you want to be on spot metering. so i am just wondering what you guys think and opinions are welcome. also would it help if i get the 55-250mm canon lens?
