Went out to photograph some egrets tonight. For some reason these don't seem very sharp to me. Would love some thoughts and or advice.

These were taken with a Canon t2i with a 70-300mm 4-5.6 IS lens... Yes, they are all cropped a lot. Any suggestions?

Hi, in order receive advice/tips, you will need to post your settings..

ie Shutter Speed - should be in the 1/800 range and higher for moving subjects ..
ISO rating etc etc
AF focus point = should always use CENTRE focus point (you can check this by viewing th AF point in DPP or similar PP software - it will show the RED square)
Also were these taken handheld, or using monopod/tripod

All photos were taken at 1/4000, f6.0, iso 1600, with centre focus... I was also hand holding these.

How would someone use a tripod to take bird pics?
