Default Boundary Bay Pano's

My first attempts at doing pano. critique welcomed, as always.

The above crop

I should have gotten more shore in this shot, though some got cropped off in the stitching.

The above crop.

Thanks guys.

I toned it down the watermark some, it didn't look that prevalent until I uploaded it.

I like the first one. Maybe my eyes were crossing, but I thought I saw the clouds moving!

Thumbs up Re: Boundary Bay Pano's

I read somewhere (sorry I don't have the reference at hand) that when shooting landscapes one must make a conscious choice as to whether the shot is about sky or the landscape. The choice is reflected in the placement of the horizon in the frame. The horizon should never-ever be dead center. If it is about the the landscape, then the horizon should be a about of 1/3 down the page. If it is about the sky, then the horizon should be closer to 2/3 down the page.

For this reason I think the top panorama is the best. This is a great piece. I can find no evidence of the stitching, the focus is crisp throughout, and the contrast between the land and the distant sky is wonderful, and the clouds really pop.

I have two suggestions (both framing). First, straighten the horizon, it drops off on the right. Second, crop the left side a bit to move that little peninsula, and the brightest part of the cloud base, a little more left of center.

Whether you follow those suggestions or not this is a beautiful shot! Congrats.

Perfectly valid points. Thank you for taking the time to make an in depth critique. I will try the suggestions you made.

BTW, if anyone is curious the top shot is made with 6 landscape oriented shots. The bottom shot is made with 15 portrait oriented shots.
