It's a nice photo, but I must confess to not understanding the whol drifting phenomenon. I was raised to believe that the goal was to get from Point A to Point B in the shortest time. Generally, that involved doing so with the least loss of traction (i.e. smoke).

As to the right hand/left hand drive question, I think there should be no standard. We should all be able to decide for ourselves. If I want to come to New Zealand and drive on the right, that should be my choice. The fact that I'd only make it about forty feet is far less important than having preserved the right to express my individuality.

Having cut my youthful driving teeth on "Smokey and the Bandit", I'd be more inclined to call it "controlled oversteer", but that's just me. Them ladies & fellers in the open-wheeled F-1 cars and Indy cars are drifting in most every corner they take, or at least they are doing the type of drifting that I was taught back in the day.

Still looks like a lot of fun, though. I'd give it a try if I could afford the tires, while still supporting my camera & lens habit.

BTW, I think shot #1 captures the event best.

At this event they had a tire shop or something like that supplying the drivers with free used tires and a guy changing them.

Drifting is pretty much a fad now. It's the "ricer" of motorsports. All show and no go. Still, nice pics.
