I shoot preps in sRAW . I switch to full RAW for the ceremony, formals, bridal party and bride/groom portraits. I switch back to sRAW at the reception.

this happened to me this weekend. was shooting candids on my 5dII in the mraw (the 9.9mp one whatever that is called). then some big groups formed and i adjusted everything but the raw size. after the first big group i realized this and switched and though, oh sh*t. but afterwards i realized that it was still a 10 megapixel file. that will print plenty large enough, even with some cropping. so i stopped stressing about it.
but i can see this argument.

usually i'll shoot everything full raw until the reception. i've never came close to needing a 18-21mp image of anyone dancing or laughing even spontaneous candids of small groups or couples.

What format you shoot in really shouldn't affect how many discs you send. When a client orders a disc I export their files in 1000 on the long edge at 300 DPI. Once exported all files are the same size whether I originally shot them in RAW, sRAW, or JPEG. Unless you're sending out all of the RAW files, which you shouldn't really be doing.

i personally send two file sizes. i export formals to a larger file size than everything else.
that's just how i do it anyway. i see no problem with sending them all one size though.

1000 on the long edge sounds like a pretty small file though? is that a typo?

I shoot full RAW all the time but I agree it's overkill for reception dancing and candid photos.

Full Raw + JPG. The former is for backup when the jpg image is not up to par.

Just this past saturday I shot in 5MP sRAW all day except the formals. Just remember you can make some really nice prints at 5MP.

Also, someone told me (though I haven't verified) that Canon embeds the FULL SIZED jpeg inside the RAW file, even if you shoot sRAW. So in the very odd chance that you need to enlarge an SRAW file to 60 inches, you can pull out the jpeg. Can anyone verify if this is true? I've never had a need to get more resolution out of a 5MP file.

I might try full raw up to the reception then switch it. I also export 2 ways one I export the full size to JPEG and then I usually do like 1024x768 or something like that for a less quality for Facebook and such. Is that a good way of doing it? Or should I resize the full sizes down or change the Facebook ones?

Jpeg for everything. Here's our portfolio. We might switch to RAW down the road when we upgrade computers, simply to have a bit more leeway in WB and exposure.
