Default Curtain Material for Backdrops?

I just popped into my local craft/fabric shop (Spotlight), and was looking at the different materials they have in stock...

I was wondering if curtain material would be suitable/ideal for use as backdrops? I suspect "normal" material isn't thick enough but maybe the curtain material is?

Anyone else used curtain material for backdrops?

I am using Muslin that I got from Spot light in Adelaide, I got the black for now, I am getting the white later when needed. I am new to Portrait photography, usually wild life only.
Do you have a frame work for holding it up, if not go on ebay and look around.

I have purchased quite a bit of "decor fabric" and it has turned out perfect for small children/babies. It's not big enough to shoot a family on or older kids but good for little ones. I actually use regular fabric at times too (like for my 11 month olds monthly pictures)

Just about anything will work if it is against a wall so no light will come back through it. I use fabric shower curtians, as well as raw patterned fabrics, bed covers, curtains.... anything with an interesting pattern to it.
