Thats a tuff one because its such a large scene to compose. To me, and I'm no expert, it seems to tight of a crop at the top.

The reason I say that is, I think it would have more impact if you could see more of what the dam is holding back..

I would prefer more symmetry. Also, that big cable right across the middle of the frame and the shadows on the left are distracting. Maybe shoot at a different time of day and clean up the wires in Photoshop.

Were you on the new bridge they built, or a helicopter? If you were on the bridge, does it have sidewalks or did you jump out a car for a real fast shot?

Try shooting a few pics and stitch them together?
I only have 1 decent lens and it's a 50mm, (on a Canon 600D) and find myself in these situations all the time, take 6 photos and merge them together, results can be pretty cool - this is 6 shots: http://www.flickr.com/photos/8244321...in/photostream |

Taken from a moving car, right?
Yea, it's 'bad.' As with many things in life, the quality of your images will most always be directly proportional to the effort invested.

Why is it bad? What are the actual problems you see with the image, and do you have any thoughts on how they can be fixed. Blindly stating yes/no answers to complex questions is a waste of everyone's time.

Did the OP state, or ever remotely suggest, that he was looking for a thoughtful critique? He asked a binary question and got a binary answer. I put 'more' effort into my reply than he did into his post.

Depends on what you plan to use the image for. If you wanted to document a place you visited for you and your family/friends, it's a good pic.
But, if you intended for it to be art, then I'm afraid it just won't do. Your composition is crooked and un-interesting, the time of day and shooting position leave much to be desired and the image needs to be refined with post processing to remove distracting elements and enhance the pleasing parts. Keep shooting, go back and try different comps and settings if you can. Have fun!
