I used to own the 75-300 DO (it has a green band). It is pretty short when not extended and I was able to routinely get it into college football games. I ended up selling it and getting the 100-400 because it better suited my other photography.

FYI (for future reference of other posters/readers) at Busch Stadium they had no problem with me bringing in my Rebel, 10-22mm and 55-250mm. At Michigan stadium I was nervous, so I carried my Rebel w/17-55mm attached and put a 200mm 2.8L and 1.4x extender in my hoodie pocket. No issues.

On the other hand, at Busch stadium we had AWESOME seats, front row at third base. I spent so much time with my brand new 55-250mm that I didn't really enjoy the first half of the game. And... Looking back my best/favorite pics were with the 10-22mm.

If you're not getting paid, make sure to enjoy the game while you're there.

Unless it's a venue where they have really strict rules, for the most part I think you'll always be fine as long as you don't bring a 300 f/2.8 or 400 f/2.8 in. You start pushing the envelope a bit with 70-200 f/2.8 ISs and 100-400s as they're fairly big in size.

I almost got ousted from the MCG this week when I brought my Canon 1D mkIV and Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS in. I had to convince them I wasn't using it for videoing.
I know their policy is 200mm and below but the security guards don't seem to know that.

Always interesting at venues. Ohio Stadium where The Buckeyes play you cannot bring in a camera with an interchangeable lens.

I've taken my camera bag into the Nationals stadium a handful of times and they've never had me do anything beyond unzip and show them the contents. My largest lens is 5.6" (retracted), so under the 8" limit, but they've never seen to pay it much attention. I'm sure you've already seen the game by now and either got it in fine, or ran into some trouble over the 100-400 and sitting in a downtown cell unable to access POTN until you post bail. Here's hoping you got some good shots.

So Take a 1.4 or 2x converter with you and strap that onto a lens that meets the length rule once you get in and you are that much better off.

I live in Buffalo and I've been to several NFl &NHL games .
When I go to the Bills games they tell me NFL rules state no lens longer than six inches .NHL Sabres games they don't care what I bring in .Both of them gave my bag a good inspection. How this is enforced at other venues I couldn't say.

Same with the T-Wolves, you can bring any lens to the game. I hear you though about the Wild, it stinks.

Probably will open a camera store inside soon for you to buy what you cannot bring in.

I got through Angels security with a 70-200 F4, but was told by an usher inside that I wasn't allowed to have that lens there. I told them security saw it and let me pass, his response was "ok, that's fine then"
