Default attracting bugs etc

I`m about to try my hand at macro photography and thought i`d read somewhere to attract bugs/bees etc to flowers or leaves a sugar water solution was a good way to go, is it true or have you guys some other tricks you`d care to share, thanks for looking, Harvey

I would like to know what the experts say.. In my case I don't do anything just patience and a lot of shots but i'm new also...

Depends on the type of bug your into. Best is to find a target and goto the habitat it likes. You can try active huinting by Investing in a butterfly net or similar which can be used to sweep the tall grasses (you'd be scarily amazed at what variety you'll catch). For night critters a bright light or black light, cast on a white sheet can give good results. Lastly, looking under rocks and leaves produce good results. if you want bees and other flyers sugar water and other sweets like cut fruit will work.

what lens are you going to use and do you have a flash setup yet?

Hmm, Attracting bugs is simple and we all know how. PAINT SOMETHING. The little buggers have been landing all over my verandah and getting stuck, but walk out in the yard with the camera and nothing. Now if everyone was happy to see "champagne hibiscus" in all my backgrounds i'd be set .
