Calling All New Zealand Motorsport Photographers!

Hi guys,

I was wanting to start a post about shooting motorsport in New Zealand. I have been in the game (for fun) for bout three months, and as I cannot make it to much racing, I want to make the most of it while I am there.

I thought this would be a great place to share good sports to shoot from, from circuits in NZ.

My 'home' track is manfeild, even though I live 2 hours away (Wellington). I find the best place to shoot is the sweeper, and the bank down by turn one. From the bank, you can also get the entry to splash/the esses. Also a pit wall is pretty exciting if you are able to get access!

Anyone got good places for other tracks, I am especially interested in Taupo and Hampton Downs.

PS: if this is the wrong section for this sort of post, where should I put it?

I'm in Palmerston North so shoot at Manfeild from time to time. Great track to shoot at!

Ok, where do you mainly shoot from? Also have you ever gotten a media pass to Manfeild?

Not a media pass as such. Hi-vis usually does the job and organising with people running an event - signing indemnity forms etc...

I shoot from all over the place given the chance. Marshall points, outside parts of the circuit. Of course when using marshall points permission must be granted before stepping in as they are there working on the flags...
