Hey folks,
Thurday I'm leaving for a 5 day citytrip to Rome. Ofcourse I'm bringing my 7D with 17-55mm and 50mm. I have this empty wall at home where I would to hang a photo of my own, but ofcourse it has to be awesome. I was wondering if you guys/gals have some tips for me. I'm favoring a night time picture (well blue hour probably) Like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/4305184...ool-roma-rome/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/simon-t...ool-roma-rome/ I'm also bringing a Gorillapod no actual tripod though. Any help with diafragma/shutterspeed? Thanks

If you are so inclined take look at my new flickr account for some ideas. IMO churches with exceptional light make great subjects......but that is very hard to capture. What about St. Peters?

Unluckily, I arrived here after seeing your pictures already on the 17-55 thread, which means you already went and took your pictures. Luckily, your pictures turned out great!
Rome is one really photogenic city... really not much can go wrong, and its fun because the usual spots are usually crowded with others trying to make pictures and are willing to talk with other photographers about techniques, angles, ideas, etc. Seeing your pictures, I went for a different White Balance than you, in order to emphasize the idea that they were night pictures (using 'cloudy' or 'daylight' settings even in night scenes). If you took them in RAW, you can still play with the WB, and if you didn't you can also still attempt to try it. It would be interesting if now you linked your pictures here as well so we have the 'archive' of what you did after seeing the 'inspirational' pictures you based yours on! For what is worth, here are some of my own examples of my May trip to Rome (which I enjoyed beyond what words can describe!): ![]() Sunset at the Tiber (Tevere) ![]() Fontana di Trevi ![]() Il Pantheon ('tempio di tutti gli dei') ![]() Castel Sant'Angelo ![]() Il Colosseo There are more examples on my web page linked bellow or clicking on the images. Sorry for the very late reply, best regards, Rafa.
