Default A question about models for semi-pro/pro glamour photographers

So, I have a very different view of what I find very attractive in women. I would say that most of them would not fit in the "model" class...like you would find on OMP. Most of them have small busts, tiny waists, and almost no hips. I honestly believe I could do a good job with them...esp with fashion shoots. But, I also would like to try my hand at these kinds of women when it comes to lingerie and possibly some nudes.

My question is this. Should I even try with these types of women? Or should I focus on larger busts and larger hips? Would one necessarily look better than the other in a glamour photographer's portfolio.

Thanks in advance

Seems to me that the typical runway model is usually built about the way you've described. If you aren't going for the Playboy side of things, you may be on to something. I've always figured if I did any model photography, I think I'd rather find some less glamourous models - you know, girl next door types. They can look pretty sexy in their own right. I'm picturing Mary Ann from Gilligan's Island here....

I think your best bet to work with many different types of models and not just focus on a particular type. I really learned a lot about how I work when I would photograph some women that I did not have a real attraction too. It was up to me to figure out how to make them look good, and I did

I think you haven't been looking at OMP long enough if you think there is a typical model on OMP I will admit that a certain type tends to get more work then others, but the models themselves are anything but typical.

I do think that you should start with whatever you like to shoot and then add some challenges and then go to what other's want.

If building a portfolio for a glamour studio then having a variety is what you really want so that any woman will want to pose for you because no matter what they look like you will make them beautiful. I know that is my goal.
