Challenge #404 - Panning

Let's capture those motion and action shots by slowing down the shutter speed, panning your subject to achieve that blurred background with the subject in focus. So, go out a capture your cars, trains, skateboarders, cyclists, pets, or anything that moves.
_______________

To submit, click Post Reply and put your Photo Name in the Subject Line. Don't forget your Camera Model.

Post until Monday noon GMT, 5 Nov. 2012.

Marie - rooster... running in the marathon - I can't imagine how many shots were taken to get this photo, those little guys are quick. Love the roosters colors, and I kinda like what you did with the processing.

pwdieter - Boris Yankayourchainovich - Love the hat! Looks like a festive night out in a colorful part of town!

Maureen - Motorcycle Rides - Who doesn't love a motorcycle ride? Not sure if this an actual panning shot ar post processing, or a little of both. Much stronger image if they were both looking at the camera.

Car - Autumn Run - Running in the fallen autumn leaves is one of life's simple joys! I like the expression and the colors, and the sense of fall's cool temps.

The Winners:

Tied for 3rd: Maureen and pwdieter
2nd Place: Marie
1st Place: Car

Winners are posted. Thanks to those that submitted!

Sorry this was not a more popular challenge. I know it stretches the G-Series cameras limits but was hoping for a few more participants.

Here was my inspiration for this challenge:

Congratulations to Marie, Maureen and Paul and thanks to Cory for hosting and judging. I too thought that there would be many more entries than this - I only just managed myself, we had an afternoon walk yesterday at Falkirk Pinapple so I had the girls running up and down the gardens to try and get a shot - this was the best, although I very nearly didn't enter it as I wasn't entirely happy with it to be honest.

Congratulations to the winners - and the others who entered. Loved your rooster, Marie!

I did venture out in the gloom and rain to try for a panning entry with my old G1 and managed to get some shots of ordinary cars driving past ordinary backgrounds but in the end decided they were all just too boring to enter.

Panning with the G Series is a tall order, getting a perfect focus is difficult and the motion blur works in these photos.

Well I must confess that it was a little of both, Cory. My old Pro 1 doesn't work on Manual anymore and often my shutter and aperture dials won't co-operate plus the lighting was too bright to set my shutter speed to very slow. So i shot within the bounds of the camera & made some extra panning adjustments in PS. Plus I suck at panning even with my big guns ;)

That said, congrats to Carolyn & Marie!!! :)

Congrats to all the brave souls who entered this week. Marie's chicken cracked me up.

Unlike teekay, I chickened out and kept my camera indoors and out of the rain and high humidity.
I figured this was not the time for my first attempts at panning. :-)

Hey, I'm new around here. Can I join these challenges?

Finally! Internet! Boy, we were so very lucky to keep our power, our trees, our house! Our community mostly suffered from wind damage. So many trees were knocked over; it's a pity.

Nice images everyone. I'm looking forward to getting to play once again.

I thought it was a great topic, Cory! I've had no time to shoot anything for several weeks, and that won't change for at least a few more weeks, so have to sit out the challenges for awhile. Congrats to all those who did enter! Glad to have you back, Kevan! That was one nasty storm you folks had out there!
