Cool. Just tried it and worked fine.

Only 2,407 on my 7D! I expected a lot more.

Not sure if this website is safe - in Chinese (therefore not sure what it says) and asks you to install a program.....

The program is an activex control that the site uses to talk to the camera. It passed through my virus scanners fine, and other than being used by the website to talk to the camera it isn't trying to talk to anything else.

EOSinfo program from here (external link) (I think it is safe) worked for my 5DII. It is a free program that needs to be installed, not a website.

Thanks for Reading & Good Luck - Jim

I would not install this ActiveX control. Firefox does not support activex so I downloaded the RAR (eosmsg.rar) file and uploaded it to Virustotal.com. 4 anti virus companies detect the following:

Antiy-AVL - Worm/Win32.WhiteIce.gen
AVG - Suspicion: unknown virus
ByteHero - Virus.Win32.Part.a
TrendMicro-HouseCall - TROJ_GEN.F47V1017

Given that only 4 of 46 detected something, and each detected something different, most likely this is a false positive.

AVG installed on my computer did not detect a virus, neither did McAfee, Symantec, Avast, or Microsoft Security Essentials.

So I opened this in a windows virtual machine for safety.

No virus warnings, but I'm a little concerned that the display looks surprisingly like the EOSCount one, and the fact that the ActiveX control is called eoscount.ocx makes me suspicious that this was stolen or hacked from the EOSCount website.

It did, however, provide a count that agreed with EOSCount.

Not sure this is accurate. I used eoscount when it was still free and I had 8k more then. I think it is off by about 10k.
