Just because I concentrate mostly on birds doesn't meen I ignore the rest of our wonderful wildlife. These two shots were taken just at Petrie Island just before winter arrived and both were fairly cooperative subjects*. The first one is Muskrat and the second a very playful River Otter.
*As a self critique I would of liked to have a little bit lower angles for both shots (river bank was pretty steep) but I think they turned out not too bad anyhow.

Well, Dan, I'm disappointed you didn't crawl right down into the water to be on their level. Good shots all the same.

Ecellent shots Dan, like both equally, the muskrat shot is cool, the otter shot is cleaner. Well done.

Nice crisp shots and good job metering for a difficult exposure.

Very nice shots, I was surprised to see muskrats at Ormond wetlands here in S. Calif. but they won't stay still!!!

Very nice shot! Next time, try to take the shot from underwater... I am sure it will give a nice perspective

Great captures Dan. I shouldn't be surprised that you got these two small mammals. I'd been hoping to get a good muskrat shot last year but they always seemde to be swimming away from me in a shaded area.

One day away from this forum and I miss all kinds of shots. That looks like the same otter I saw there in the fall.Did you hear him or see him first Dan? I heard him first..
clearing his nostrills when he surfaced. Very neat animal to see wild like that in the river and a nice shot to remember him by. Very nice of the Muskrat as well and I know from experience they can be very challenging to capture.
