My LCD turns black for a second or so after I take a snap. Everything else works fine. Does anybody know the reason or have the same experience? Many thanks.

Probably you have the LCD in the OFF setting. In this setting, it only display the review image after the picture is taken (usually 2 seconds) and then turn off, to save power, and you must use the viewfinder to frame the picture.
If you want to change the state to "always on" press the "Display" button to switch. If this doesn't work, probably you have a malfunction.
