Default Pekka, The Leonids?

What lens are you going to use and what settings for the Leonids? This night shooting is right up your alley from what I observe in your gallery.

Hi newbie7,

I'm not sure If I'm awake at that time , but info I got it's most active here 7am, when we have too much light, and tomorrow night ca. 2 am. I used http://www-space.arc.nasa.gov/~leonid/estimator.html and http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0001769.html to estimate these. One thing I still need to know (again, if I'm awake..) is what direction in sky is that leo constellation (the origin of Leonids). Problem 2 is that we seem to have clouds here at that time: http://www.weather.fi/tasma/

About how to shoot them, see http://www.luminous-landscape.com/meteor.htm which seems like good advice.

I read the L_Landscape article and printed it out, thank you. I was wondering how you were going to handle it. I'm too close to the city according to the link article. I recently cut down all the trees in front of my house so I'll have no foreground. I'll try anyway and send you some of my "Newbie" attempts.

My new Tripod hasn't arrived so I'll have to use my old one designed for a little point and shoot. I doubt if anything will be sharp using that thing. I enjoy your photographs Pekka, you are one of the best on the Internet.

Have a wonderful weekend.
