I'm off to Florida soon, and am taking my Airport Antidote as my carry on. I don't want to lug that round though when we go and do our tourist thing, so I'm looking for a small bag that I can use to carry the 1DX, with 24-105L mounted, the 70-200 f2.8L IS II and a 580EXII.

I'm seriously considering the Speed Freak v2.0 - but am worried the 1DX won't fit in it. Does anyone use this bag with a big body? I really want the smallest bag I can get away with.

The other thing I've considered is a Digital Holster 40 V2.0, perhaps with a skin 75 attached to it for the 70-200. Seems overly clunky though, and I do want room to take the 70-200 as well.

Any thoughts/advice gratefully received!

Your camera shouldn't fit in a small bag... Can't take a picture if camera isn't ready...
Camera on strap, and a a couple extra lens in small bag should be all you need!

Rich,

What part of Florida are you heading to?

Orlando for the first bit (based out of Disney), and then Clearwater for some beach time. Where are you based?

I have a Speed Freak. I have a gripped 5D3 and 24-70. With just this alone, it fits with lens hood reversed. If you're adding a 70-200, it won't fit if it's attached to the body. You should have room on the sides but barely.

And what happens when you're climbing in and out of taxis, sitting down to eat, taking public transportation? You're supposed to do these things with $8K worth of camera equipment dangling around your neck or off your shoulder? What if you get stuck in a sudden downpour? Not as much of a worry with a 1D but the rest of us may want a weatherproof bag to store gear.

OP, look at a TT Urban Disguise 40. Not a super small bag but it should meet your needs otherwise just perfectly.

Great. Thanks 1KIND!

I had the original speed freak bag and didn't like it. Just too much for the belt it's on and it always tipped uncomfortably away from the body.

I have the Speed Freak V2 but, it's very limited in space. I would look at the TT Urban Disguise bags if you need to carry more than one lens.

Thanks everyone. I worry that the Urban Disguise bags will be too big. Other option might be the Retro 20 - I already have the Retro 30 and like it. Just not sure how much smaller it will be though.
