Very nice work Mike, love the coyote, looks like a female with a belly full of pups, either that or it just had a huge meal

That Coyote was one of a pair who had just finished munching on an Elk carcass! I'm sure they were both stuffed.

Thanks everyone for the comments!

Great shots, Mike. I love the coyote and ram, especially.

I am jealous. Yellowstone is my favorite place to visit. One of these years I'll talk the wife into a winter trip.

Even though it's been a while since you posted. Great shots. I might be headed there in January next year also. What lens was your most used lens would you say?

Love the shots. I need to actually stop on my way to Cooke next winter and take some pics.

I mostly shot with a 300 f/2.8 with a 1.4x or 2x TC, on a 7D. When we went, the animals were pretty sparse and far off. You definitely want 500mm, a 70-200 on your shoulder for environmental portraits, and a super wide angle. I got some amazing wide angle shots, especially in Haden Valley.

Just about every focal length can be used while in Yellowstone, but for wildlife you definitely want 500mm or more.
