Not yet, now mid 2016 and we are still with 36MP which I love and don't want to see more than 40-42MP since you will have problems with diffraction.

Correct, but with higher MP sensors you notice the effect sooner I.e if diffraction starts at f/5.6 you will notice it at 5.6 on a high MP sensor but might not notice the effects until say f/8 on a lesser MP sensor

Sony has a 42MP sensor in the A7RII.

Nikon buys Sony sensors.

I think we can see where this is going.

Considering the thread is going on 4 years, and the Sony is a year old already, it is safe to retrofit an answer of "no" to the original post... :)
