I'd like to use my PDA (Pocket PC) as an IR remote controller for my 300D. Is this possible ? Does anyone know if any software can do that ?

There was a remote control program that came with my iPaq 3800 a few years back that I programmed to control pretty much everything in my house...it may work...I just don't remember the name of it. It was part of the software bundle that came with it.
Can it control your camera...I can't say for sure. But it may... |

Silly question...do I need some sort of attachement on my camera to get the IR remote to work. I have the software on my PDA, installed the database file that gives me the canon codes, etc. Now I just can't seem to get it to work. I know I need to hit the button next to the dial to tell it to go into remote mode, but where does the camera take in the signal from my pda?

The IR sensor's on the front of the grip below the shutter button.

Not sure I'll really use this, but it's cool to know that I can do it. To boot, the program I'm using also controls my cable, Tivo and dvd player in my living room! Now I truly have a pda that does everything. |
