I still can't seem to nail basketball. I have to push ISO to 3200 to get speeds above 250. I really struggle with hitting the focus point perfectly. I have the camera set to center point focus and I use custom function to focus with the thumb seperate from the shutter button. Any suggestions?
Sorry, I can't get the pics to attach right now

What is the lighting like in the gym, and what more are you shooting in?

Must be an awfully dark gym. Which lens are you using?

However, I would suggest that some simple work in PS, even just on the levels, would improve the overall brightness of the images. If you're shooting at ISO3200 then it certainly must be a dark gym. There is not much you can do without adding some light of your own via flash/strobes. Of course this may not be allowed. If it is feasible (consult with the players and officials), here are some thoughts on how to do it with an on-camera flash: http://www.photography-on-the.net/fo...sketball+flash http://www.photography-on-the.net/fo...sketball+flash You are correct to use the centre point only for AF. If you are not getting good results with the AF set to the * button, then go back to using the shutter release. The * button technique does not work for everyone. There is a lot of hype about the * button... but only use that technique if you are 100% comfortable with it. I will use the * button for some sports and not for others, it's horses for courses. Good luck with your next shoot. ---- Gavin
