Canon DSLR Speed Challenge #290

CONTRAST

Contrast is the theme of this challenge: Contrast as an element of composition, subject, processing or any other interpretation your photo might suggest.

Submission, EXIF and photograph name are all that is needed. Simply follow the below posted rules, and let your submission speak for itself. Do not be afraid to push the envelope; get creative and have fun.

One more thing; do not forget to include the photograph's name in the message subject line of your post.

This challenge begins when posted, and will end at 10:00 p.m. Pacific time Thursday, 11 July 2013. Winner of this challenge will be announced shortly thereafter.

Standard Rules apply:
Photo Submissions:

1. Camera - Any Canon DSLR Camera
2. Time - any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible, although photos that have won other competitions should NOT be entered.
3. Size - Please visit Image Posting Rules.
4. Post-Processing - do whatever you like and the host will decide if it works.
5. Posting - * ONE PHOTO per photographer in each challenge.* Photo Name in the message subject line.* Camera model & lens used.* Notes -- post brief EXIF data including ISO, shutter speed and aperture used.
6. Commenting - No commenting during challenge. When the posting is closed and a winner has been declared, comments can be made in this thread.
7. Keep it clean, and both Family and Work safe.
8. Have questions, PM me.
9. Have FUN!

One challenge every week, on the following schedule:

* New Topic - After winner is declared.
* Posting Starts - Right after topic is announced.
* Posting Ends - 10:00 p.m. Pacific Time Thursday, 11 July 2013.
* Winner from this competition decides the theme of the next one (and judges it for a winner) after this competition is closed.

Thanks ninobrn99 for a visually striking entry, The beauty of shapes in unison, a top three finisher this week. Kevan once again secures the coveted second place ;) with sweet escape, a caucophany of contrasting angles, textures and tones.

Lots of interesting takes on the theme this week ... thanks to everyone for participating.

Congrats to T3 Heavy Shop for Look , a spectacular photograph on a few different levels. Wonderful technique and composition compliment the dramatic theme. Love it.

T3 Heavy Shop is in charge of the next go round.

thanks

Paul

Terrific entries this week, and a slap on the back to our winner, T3.

Glad you liked my image, kb. Frankly, I had my doubts anyone would find it interesting. After working the image, I felt it had an assemblage/Dada quality to it, so figured I'd enter it anyway.

I'm not too sure anyone will find this interesting, but the bee escape is an interesting device used as a type of screen, used in cultivating a box beehive of its honey. Avoiding much of the beekeeper's parlance, the idea behind it is..once it has been determined that there's sufficient honey to harvest in the top box of the stack, the bee escape, is put in place below the stored honey, offering the resident bees essentially an one-way exit from that specific chamber. The keeper waits about 24 hours for the bulk of the bees to leave, and later returns to take the honey without disturbing the hive. The escape I photographed was left on a picnic table nearby a colony of hives.
