Well done, nice clear shot. I agree, I think they are the prettiest heron of all.

Thank you for the kind comment. Their unique colors are stunningly beautiful.

love these images
like others have said, the clarity and sharpness is perfect without being overdone in post processing

I love these birds, and Herons in general. I have one in my neighborhood that stands in the vacant lot at night, and when I go walking the dogs even they will miss seeing it until it takes off when we are about 5 feet from it. Now that can wake you up!
He also likes to stand at ocean edge late at night. Keep trying to get him standing and the full moon behind him to illuminate and showcase him. He stands so still even a long exposure shot will be ok. Man, that should rock as a shot :)

Excellent shot! When we see these birds flying near our house my wife has to run and cover the pond to save the fish.

Thanks to everyone for the positive comments, they are more valuable to me than you might think. I'm still insecure with my post processing skills, your comments have helped reassure that I'm going in the right direction. I feel like I'm finally developing a better understanding and application of the new DPP. Thanks again to everyone.

Well done Slice. It's always a good day when I come across an adult Tricolor like this one. Here on the coast of SC we see more young Tricolors than adults but I haven't learned of a rookery for them nearby yet. If you ever get to Florida in the spring you'll be impressed with their breeding colors.

Indeed Slice, great catch of the Tri color. The eye in number two is superb, nice and glassy, great red, excellent work!
