Canon DSLR Speed Challenge #291

Before or After

Before or After is the theme of this challenge: An image that shows that something is about to happen, or has just happened. Other interpretations are welcome.

Submission, EXIF and photograph name are all that is needed. Simply follow the below posted rules, and let your submission speak for itself. Do not be afraid to push the envelope; get creative and have fun.

One more thing; do not forget to include the photograph's name in the message subject line of your post.

This challenge begins when posted, and will end at 8:00 p.m. Central time Saturday, July 20, 2013. Winner of this challenge will be announced shortly thereafter.

Standard Rules apply:
Photo Submissions:

1. Camera - Any Canon DSLR Camera
2. Time - any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible, although photos that have won other competitions should NOT be entered.
3. Size - Please visit Image Posting Rules.
4. Post-Processing - do whatever you like and the host will decide if it works.
5. Posting - * ONE PHOTO per photographer in each challenge.* Photo Name in the message subject line.* Camera model & lens used.* Notes -- post brief EXIF data including ISO, shutter speed and aperture used.
6. Commenting - No commenting during challenge. When the posting is closed and a winner has been declared, comments can be made in this thread.
7. Keep it clean, and both Family and Work safe.
8. Have questions, PM me.
9. Have FUN!

One challenge every week, on the following schedule:

* New Topic - After winner is declared.
* Posting Starts - Right after topic is announced.
* Posting Ends - 8:00 p.m. Central Time Saturday, July 20, 2013.
* Winner from this competition decides the theme of the next one (and judges it for a winner) after this competition is closed.

Some really cool images this week that I really enjoyed seeing.

Maureen – Well captured. I know his face will be obscured by smoke in the next frame, and he would be off to find his next target.

Kevan – Great textures, image balance, and minimalist colors. It really comes together nicely.

airfrogusmc – Pretty well sums up a good night about to be followed by a bad morning…

kbColorado – Very dramatic and anticipatory feel. The real beauty, and bright colors, are coming.

toolman21 – That’s funny. A bit disturbing, but funny.

sru89 – I don’t know what happened for sure, but judging from the expressions it wasn't fun.

groundloop - I feel this kid's pain. It may hurt me more because I don't see the hit.

I give the nod to Kevan for Before...after...and about to be flipped....

I just couldn't come up with any ideas for an entry to fit this week's subject and really appreciate the time and expertise you put taking shots for these challenges, Kevan - congratulations!

Thanks, T3. Thoroughly enjoyed the topic; my imagination was cranking on the possible images I could do. Seeing Mo's entry, I thought she had the win. There were some fun, and disturbing, images that followed. Nice shootin' folks.

I'll try to get the next challenge up by tonight.

Umm...make that tomorrow morning, I promise. We finally got a break from a weeklong heat wave, so my wife and I left the confines of our A/C'd abode, went out for an Indian meal, drove over to the Hudson (Croton on Hudson to be exact) for a freshly made black raspberry ice cream cone, stopped by the Croton dam to watch it overflow in the remaining light, and finally, drove home in the dark, on country roads, guided by fireflies.

I'm too worn out.
