Default My 20-D just took a dump

I was taking photos at a show yesterday and my 20-D quit auto focusing, I checked the lens and it was set right. I went to check the last pics I took and realized the rear LCD screen was not working either. I changed batteries, lenses and even took off the battery grip, no change. I took some more pics in manual focus before changing to my 10-D backup. I checked the card when I got home and the photos I took after the problem developed were perfect exept for the first one was out of focus.
I called canon and of course they said to send it in, tomorrow it will be on the way. By the way , it is 21 days out of warranty!!!

No one else seems to care so I will.

There there you poor thing

That's a bummer being 21 days out of warranty.
Hope they fix it for you for not too much money.

Oh well , more time to do some Photoshopping.

Maybe a new twist in the grip saga.

(says thx -so far my 20D has had no grip and no dramas).

My 20D completely died 7 days before my warranty went out. I got lucky because the cost of all the repairs they did would have been more than a new 20D

I hope your repair is mighty inexpensive!

If your camera dies just out of warranty, it's always worth saying so when you contact Canon about the service. The viewfinder display on my D60 failed right around warranty end; I told them that it was right around then, even though it was after the warranty period when I actually sent it in (holiday season),included mention of that in the cover letter when I sent it back, and they fixed it at no change.

Well, mine isn't. And there are a lot of others that aren't. Don't jump to conclusions based on anecdotal evidence - after all, why start a thread saying "My 20D is working just fine" after the "new camera smell" has worn off?

My 20D is several months out of warranty and working fine - but, you won't see threads started to state this. Usually only problems create threads, which can lead to the impression that the camera only has problems, which is patently not true.

My 20D is going strong (knock on wood). 14,000 shots and going.

Thanks guys, I'll keep you informed on the repairs and the cost. If it cost as much as a new one I might as well buy a new one, I love the camera.
I'm glad I kept the 10D as a back-up.

It's always good to have a backup. Hope it gets fixed for cheap.

I just got the E-mail from Canon with the estimate for repairs, I was afraid to open it but it was not that bad. $207.60 and it says I should get it back within the next seven days after approval and of course payment.
Well it is approved and paid for, lets see how long it takes them, I'll keep you informed.
