Default S400 LCD Protector

Is anyone else using this protector?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=2938451182

It seems to provide excellent protection, but when I put it on (without actually removing the backing and sticking it on the camera), its seems to cause the LCD to "ripple" when buttons near the LCD are pressed (such as the directional pad). Is anyone else having similar problems with this product?

Thanks,
Davin

I have not tried it but it sounds like a good idea. I just bought an S400 and wouldn't mind protecting the LCD...Anyone tried it?

I wish I'd had this product! I have 'fractured' the lcd screen. And now I'm trying to find out how to get it repaired,.or likely replaced?? I'm In Utah, USA....anyone with any ideas?? And afterwards, I'll very likely be getting this lcd protector, unless others say it is no good.

Thanks for your help.

I had the same problem with this product that the first poster described. I contacted the vendor several times, but no solution was ever offered. I would not recommend this product to people.

For my S45 I use a screen overlay made for a palm pilot.

They usually come in a pack of 12 which means I get 48 uses from one pack (I used exactly one quarter of one to fit my screen). I applied it 6 months ago, and I haven't needed to change it. You lose a little quality in the picture, but you can't get that much detail from such a small screen in the 1st place.

It's kept the unit free from scratches; however, it would have no impact resistance.

I just did a search and see that Amazon now sells dedicated digital camera screen overlays.

Daproducts is doing LCD protectors for any model of digital camera.

Here is the info that I've received from them:

For the Canon S400 we can customize a 'da Micro II Protector by trimming one corner. There is no extra charge for the customization. To order, place an order for the 'da Micro II Protector at http://www.daproducts.com and in the shopping cart's special shipping instructions field state that the protector needs to be customized for the Canon S400.

All of our protectors are $6 (US) plus a $2 (US) flat fee for shipping and handling. The protectors attach with pre-applied adhesive and can be safely removed by following the removal instructions included with the protector. The protector is 1/16" hard acrylic, the attached image is a "virtual fit" using graphics software. It will give you an idea of how the protector looks on the camera.
