Is the new S120 That much better than the S110?
It's $100 more..... $449 for a small point and shoot!! Yikes.

It does have the DIGIC 6 processor and a 1.8 lens....I'm sure other stuff as well.

I'm ready to buy the S110 but should I just wait and get the 120?

f/1.8 vs. f/2 is 1/3 stop. Holding your breath after exhaling can compensate for that where shake's a concern. Base your decision on what other features it may offer, if you need a camera now. If you still have a working camera, and can live with it for a while, wait until there's more real (read "user") data on the S120. The S110 isn't going to disappear overnight.

Remote release

AT LAST...

Looks like the S120 is the first one ever in this series to provide for a remote release - albeit not by cable but via smartphone.

I finally have the reason to change from my S95.

This camera looks pretty good on paper!
I've seen some pretty Great pictures from S100 and 110's so I just pre-ordered my new S120!

Now I sit and wait......:|

Sorry, no remote release, just image transferring. The app also works with the S110.

You would need a 6D for remote release;

Yeah, I already have a couple of SLRs. But I'm not buying a replacement for my pocket camera unless it allows a cable/remote release. I realise I'm the only person on the planet who gives a sh1t about this so I'm having a long wait.

Well, Canon disagrees with DPR...

The only P&S camera I'm aware of with a wireless remote release is the Nikon P7700. It has an optional $20 IR remote. Not exactly a "pocket" camera though.

Yeah. Not bothered about the wireless. Wired would do just fine.

It's really stupid. There's a USB port on this series and I know one of the CHDK hacks will make it work as a cable release port with the S95 so the hardware is there.

Anyway, fact remains, I'm not buying a new one until there's a model that does. I would use this feature a lot.

Seems that would make the perfect vacation camera that's not super heavy and won't strain your neck. For the great scenics of fall colors I would love to use my Mamiya RB 67 again.

But...the RB 67 won't fit in your shirt pocket... And, it probably doesn't have wifi to upload to Facebook. Can't be too good, can it? :-)
