Problem with Canon G15 -- won't zoom, some controls frozen

Glad to see this thread. I was on a remote hike and my G15 failed to zoom and all the controls on the back would not function. I removed the battery as mentioned above and now zoom and buttons are working again. Now if I could find the right sized adhesive for the metal ring for the magfilter I'd be all set again.

Well my G15 has been having this trouble for a while now. I went to the local Canon service center today to see about getting it fixed. Their quote was $190. That is quite a bit for only a 6 month warranty. $200 could go towards a new P&S. I did check out the G5X and I have to say it was impressive. Any feedback and thoughts are welcome.

Just ordered a refurbished G5X on the phone with the upgrade/loyalty program. Pretty good deal. $342 with tax and shipping. They list the refurbs on their site for $450. If you already have a powershot all they require you to do is provide the serial number from your camera. You don't have to send in the old camera. Still sad the G15 isn't working anymore. I use it more than my DSLR.
