Nice work iKirst! Looks like you were positioned on the very opposite side or the tower. It's good to see the structure in context of the city.

Thanks IainB, MuffYz
It's a shame the first image looks so dark, but it was the best of the series, with fireworks, that didn't see any ghosting caused by either the wind, or me kicking the tripod

I'm clumsy, heh

Great pics!!

Even nicer editing, good composition, and nice crispess in each image.
Had the first been brighter, the fireworks would have been overexposed

Nice! looks like the folks on level 17 in our building had the decency to put their lights off after the fireworks! (spot the difference between pic 1&2...)
Kicking the tripod eh?

Hey ikirst. Nice shots of the tower! I'll have to get back to Auckland soon and meet everyone up there. I had a look at your shot and made the midtones lighter in it, just so you can see what it looks like. Hope you don't mind.

She does have image editing ok, although I was the one who edited them in the first place! I know the first one was a bit dark, but was limited by a bad monitor here.. Or was it just laziness.

I gave her the wrong settings for camera. I guessed manual 2.5-5 seconds, and f7.1-f11 for sharpness. These were shot at around 2.5 and f9, but when I shot mine, they were also a bit dark, so shot them longer and slightly wider open. Kinda forgot to tell my shooting buddy to change settings a bit.

Thanks Daniel, no doubt we'll all meet up one day.

Can't make it to Taupo or Tauraunga Air Show?
(im still waiting on camera lens, which there's a slim chance it may arrive tomorrow..if it does I'll be trying to put the tele-photo to good use.)

Hehe - clearly visible shot showing the exstinguished lights. Pat yourselves on the back, I say

Merci beaucoup, Rendezvous. Your lightened version is more on par with how I wanted my shot to look. I was too slow in changing all the settings (Fireworks were lucky to have lasted 5 minutes).

Well, I cheat - I have a personal "how to" guy to fix the settings. Thanks Mike
