Looks like a Lichen to me but nice shot.

(For Lichens you could try Lichens: Post Yours Here but I suspect no ones too stressed about it ;) )

The one in the grass is about 6 feet from the other one. The other one is growing on top of where once was an oak tree. The stump was ground so this is essentially a hole in the earth full of wood shavings.
