Default South Downs Stages Rally @ Goodwood

A tarmac rally held on the old Goodwood circuit. Gave me some practice shooting cars again after the "off season". I don't do rallies often... a couple more this month though! The weather was dull so don't expect super-contrasty images and I refuse to photoshop things to death!

#1 Just to prove that I CAN do pan shots... enjoy, you won't see many from me. 10D and the EF 70-200mm f/4L.

#2 Paddock shot... 1D Mark II and the Tamron 28-75mm deputising for the EF 24-105mm f/4L which is away being "de-flared".

#3 A PROPER rally car.... 1D and Sigma 120-300mm

#4 Escort MkII... 1D and Sigma 500mm

#5 #6 & #7 A little sequence - 1D and Sigma 500mm. Single shot, I don't do spray and pray. The first two are cropped slightly.

#8 Another proper rally car - an Escort Mk I this time, again with the 1D and the Sigma 500mm

Full gallery of the day is here http://gallery.ukmotorsportpics.com/c850234.html

Thanks for looking!

Great series all around Glenn. Nice captures of the tire barrier impact. Yes indeed, you can swing the camera Speaking of which what is that hanging down behind the rear wheel in pic #1?
<edit>
I see it now. It is a deformed mud flap. ........ Duh

Is it me, or is that blue car a YUGO?

Not even close. It's a Chrysler/Talbot Sunbeam. They won the World Rally Championship with the Lotus engined variant in 1981.

I popped down there for an hour or so. I spent most of the time between the start line and the first corner. Wanted to practice some panning shots.

Hopefully I should be at more events this year

Nice work Glenn. You got a better sequence of the tire crash than myself! Great work in the gallery as well.

Cheers,
Steve

Pah, you and your twitching! Get yourself down to the Wyedean this weekend. That'll put a stop to it.

Thanks

Ah... well we were all over the place so we no doubt missed you in the crush. Hopefully I'll catch up with you again at some point during the season

Fabulous colours for a dull day Glenn. Not so sure about the wing on the back of the Sunbeam though. Nice sequence on the Impreza.

Cheers,

Simon.
