Default Eve Selis...

Eve Selis is a gal who's been making her name known, slowly but surely. She got up and did some songs at the Tim Flannery show I shot the other night:

All shot with the 20D and 70-200mm f/2.8L.

Comments, criticisms, suggestions, are all welcome!

Steve

Great shots Steve. I tried shooting a local band here awhile back but I could never compose them properly. I know how hard it is to shoot using available light only. But of course it helps to have a great lens to shoot with.

Just slightly off topic but I wanted to ask. Have you been to Croce's lately? I used to live in the San Diego area and just totally enjoyed that place.

Honestly can't remember the last time I was there; it's been years...

Your exposures look spot on. I'm looking forward to buying the 70-200 IS lense in the not too distant future(oh please oh please). I'm really enjoying the 50 1.4 for smaller venues. Just the shot of the arts center itself is very nice. I work for the school district in Escondido, so I've been to the center there many times.

My favorite, Jeff Tweedy, is playing Spreckels this saturday. That's a show I'd love to shoot.

Cheers

OK, now I can see them! Hey, where's the smoke? Where are all the blinding colored lights shining right into the camera? Oh, I see, this way lets you see the musicians and creates a more intimate mood rather than one of a massive impersonal party like I usually shoot ... I think I like this look ... A LOT! Excellent, crisp (Love that 20D do we?), well composed. Now I'll go look at the other ones! Good Job!

Thanks Dwight!

Touche' on the "smoke and blinidng lights"! I know I do that a bit.

What I really liked about the images of Selis is that I was able to capture the detail of her blouse, which was white on white. Some of the shots were a bit blown out, but many more came out as the able shot did, which I'm happy with.

And you know, just once, I'd like to shoot a massive impersonal party...
