Very nice CLEAN NEW engines!!

We never see them in my area

I've seen a couple. 1 was NS, if you can believe that? The other was UP as well. They were neither one newx but they had nice paint and were clean

Not screaming, terrified, like his passengers.

Wish I could have seen them also!

Clean maybe, but new? Hardly. 1347 is a 45 year old GP40-2 that started life on the DRGW. I have some pictures somewhere of it in its original paint and it was rode hard and put away wet looking :-)

They don't get as dirty working local service as the ones that say battle the sierras over Donner, but still I have seen some truly dirty UP units on the locals as well. It's hit and miss.

They looked new to me. The engines I see from NS are always very dirty, but I am sure they are all used heavily on the long trails.

That is still MUCH cleaner than the NS engines in my area.

I don't tend to bother with modern traction much, however I thought this location at New Barnetby was reasonable and the weather was pleasant so why not!

Completed in 2008, "Tornado" is currently limited to 75mph, but it has always been the intention to run the locomotive at speeds up to 90mph to better fit in with other trains on the busy UK rail network. In connection with testing for future 90mph operations the locomotive was rigged with diagnostic measurement equipment and operated up to 100mph during controlled testing in the early hours of Wednesday 12th April 2017.
I decided to go along to Thirsk station and try to record this historic event and this is the result, ISO 8000 so extremely noisy.

I believe that the BBC have made a documentary about the speed attempt.

Thanks very much Robbie, first time shooting locomotives, with DSLR any way. I'm going to try again in a day or two. I know I can do better!
Although the Flying Scotsman was only doing 25 miles an hour it took me completely by surprise! I took some more composed shots on its
way back but - there's always a but - it was coupled arse about face and not aesthetically pleasing.
