Not a 'lens' per se, but a pair of cameras unique in their ability to take Canon lenses while utilising a sensor with a higher resolution and better image quality (below ISO 1600, anyway) than any Canon camera.

Besides, the other A7/A7r thread on the Industry and News page was getting full of photos rather than discussion.

So, here's the thread for any and all photos taken using these cameras. Please indicate which camera (A7 or A7r) you used, as well as which lens the shot was taken with.

The starting post doesn't mention the use of Sony lenses as well as Canon + adapter so I'll throw in a shot where I used the Sony a7r + Sony 55mm f1.8 lens.

For this shot, I used the Sony a7r with the Canon 17-40mm f4 lens.

Does any one know what the deal is between the contax G lenses that start with a 7 vs 9 on their lenses? Are the ones starting with a 9, do they have better autofocus?

Since neither of the other two topics regarding the Sony a7 and a7r are really ideal to share photos, I suppose I'll continue to use this topic for sharing photos taken with the Sony even though it seems like an odd place to be. Hopefully, either a more appropriate one will be created by a moderator or this one will be moved to the main photo sharing forum like the Nikon topic.

Thanks David. The chapel is so ornate, it looks very harsh when viewed at such a small size. It looks much better when seen large.

I'm looking forward to hear what you think of the a7r...and I got a new toy today too...the Sony 24-70 f4. :D

Tony, I especially like your Amaryllis.

My Indian Hawthorne bushes are starting to blossom. I forgot to add this was shot with the a7r + Sony 24-70 f4 lens.

Gene.
As you have both the 17-40 and the 24-70, how do they both compare ? ? ? I not interested in £££ between the two, just pure IQ. Also, how fast is the AF with the native 24-70 ? ? ? I'm really liking everyone's contributions so far across all the threads currently active. I think this thread will eventually become very popular.
Many thanks

Ian

What adapter allows AF with Canon's lenses? If any.

Because of the rainy weather, I really haven't been able to shoot with the 24-70 much. On my Flickr page, I only have five images from that lens beginning with the interior shot. (The pink house is an old edit shot on my 5D3). If you view the shots of the March Field Museum, all those were shot with the 17-40 mounted on my a7r.

My first impressions are the native 24-70 lens seems to focus very fast. I'm impressed with the sharpness but there is some softness at the edges and some barrel distortion too at 24mm. Basically, I bought the 24-70 lens for the convenience of it, when I want to travel light and for video because of its image stabilization (oss) as well as continuous focusing. So far, I'm very pleased with it.

I use the Metabones smart adapter III and although auto focus is slow, it seems very accurate and is how I used the 17-40 lens at the air museum.

BTW, do you live near Cardiff? My ancestors used to own St. Fagans. :)
