Challenge #478 - Spring Is Here At Last!
_______________

After one of the longest and coldest winters on record it is finally springtime! Make me a believer…I want to see your photo evidence that spring has arrived at your location! Explain your springtime evidence in your title, e.g., Spring Flowers, Buds on the Trees, first Robin Red Breast, etc. As always composition and exposure will be key to a winning springtime photo!

[EDIT] It has been pointed out to me that it isn't spring around the world at this period in time. Point well taken! So, those of you who are not in the spring cycle please dig into your archives and show me the signs of your last spring :-)

Many thanks for such beautiful entries. Your photos give me hope that at long last we will emerge from the darkness of a very hard winter. Choosing the top three from these was a real challenge!

CarloY – The Blossoms – They come and go
– Beautiful announcement of spring

Maureen Souza – About to Burst in to Spring
– Lovely photo of a “budding” spring

Teekay – That First Crocus on April 1. 2014
– I love the single flower emerging from the earth – beautiful photo

Rpolistr – The eyes of spring
– Wow! Here is spring looking you in the eye. Great photo!

Marie – Bluebell polka
– A great shot and lovely colors to chase away winter’s drabness

Northants Nin – First Spring Growth
– Lovely greens to herald spring’s arrival

Spaco57 – Willow Buds
– Lovely buds announcing spring has arrived

Irishjim – Just Budding
– Love the butterflies and the play on words

Ohlook – It’s that time of the year
– Nothing says spring like the 1st pitch of the new baseball season

Raven – This is spring in Seattle…
- Classic April showers to bring May flowers. Clever way to capture spring’s arrival

And now for the top three…hard choices but here they are:

3rd Place - OhLook - It's That Time of the Year" Spring and baseball are a winning combo for sure!
2nd Place - Teekay – That First Crocus on April 1. 2014 – Well composed and tack sharp
1st Place - Rpolistr – The eyes of spring – Tops in composition, exposure, and depicting spring looking you in the eye!

With your well executed photos you have convinced me that spring is here! I am putting the snow shovel away till next winter!

And on to you Rafael (Rpolistr) for our next challenge!

Jim -- I keep the G5X in the Glove Box just in case!

Good choices, Jim. All the photos are wonderful, and I'm glad I didn't have to judge this week.

One that was posted early is missing: the "ladybug." The insect was actually a cucumber beetle. The rule of silence for these competitions kept me from prematurely revealing its identity.

Congrats Rafael, Teekay, and IrishJim. (I really liked the stark contrast of the Crocus shot). Thanks Jim for the theme and hosting.

No problem catching spring out here -- it seems all sorts of season-turning signs can be found spread out over the course of a few months. It's just a little mixed up.

True enough Ohlook! I took out the misidentified 'ladybug' and inserted a few traditional blossoms. (Don't know why the inline/embedded photos get scaled up here, or maybe it's just a DPI issue.)

Carlo

Congratulations to Rafael! Teekay and IrishJim too! I would have had a tough time picking a winner, Jim. I liked them all. Great challenge, and wonderful entries. Thanks for hosting.

Spring has not come here yet, so I had to reach back into the archives and pull a couple shots from last spring when the G1X was brand spanking new.
