I remember when this thread was started. I had to think a few minutes to recall it. ;)

Anyway, so many of you have moved on to the 5D 3 and have grown so much in your photographic endeavors. A hearty congratulations to you all.

There are still a few 60D owners left and their contributions are still excellent. A handful of us have gone to the 70D but remember the 60D fondly. I'm going to keep mine as a second camera/back-up for when it makes sense to have a two camera setup: landscapes and birding... or when I get the 400 f/5.6 prime and want two ways to catch birds.

I learned something new today after a 1 1/2 hour one on one webinar with Katie of Lily Rose Photography.

I asked her more about skin tones. What do you guys think?

my edit before the webinar.

I suspect that to European eyes, the second would look better; to East Asian types, the first would. My take: I think that the first is losing hair detail; the second is losing shirt detail. Which is more important? The hair, I'd say. But try messing with the black and white levels, not so much the mid-tones, to keep detail in both ends.

FWIW, when we're doing the record shots of collection items at NASM, we try to keep "white" (Zone 9) at 240; and "black" (Zone 1) at 40. What seems to work best (ACR for PS CS6) is to set Zone 5 (18% grey) at as close to 128 as you can get via the Exposure slider, then adjust the White slider so your white hits the 240 mark. Then slide the Black slider to 40; this sequence seems to have the least disruption to the overall range; boosting White will drag the mid-tones along with it, but dragging the Black down doesn't affect the white levels and only has minimal impact on the greys.
