Default Wedding Photo Checklist

Due to some of the posts I've seen around here, I'm going to post up a photo checklist for you all to take a look at.

I use this as a starting point and to get an idea of what the client is looking for. It lists a lot of the "standard" shots for a wedding (some posed, some not) and I ask my clients to choose which shots are most important to them. This gives me an idea of what they are looking for and we can discuss things further.

I usually hand this out and have them look it over, check things off and mail it back.

This does lean heavily on the traditional style of shooting as with the PJ style there isn't much for you to check off...you just go with the flow.

I tend to have a hybrid style - I take the traditional formal poses and such because usually the parents and grandparents will want those. The reception and pre-ceremony stuff is more PJ style - no posing or anything for the most part unless the client wants it.

Anyway. Feel free to use this document for yourself. Take it, edit it, change it, save it, whatever. I hope it helps someone

Also...the question about the bride/groom seeing each other before the ceremony is for my planning. I try to do as many posed formals before the ceremony as possible, so long as it doesn't eat into my time of the preparations by the B&G. Some don't care about seeing each other, some do.

If you are doing formals, the more you can knock out before the wedding, the better. You won't spend as much time there after the ceremony and will keep the guests waiting less.

Thanks for sharing. It is very useful for many. But I try to avoid lists, as I find them stifling, and puts on too much pressure...especially if you get one with most checked off. Uggh! I specify in my contract that I don't do lists...

I doubt I'd have the time during a wedding to consult a list, but it could be useful for planning I suppose.

Same here. I like to just follow the natural flow of the wedding day. And, besides, I don't want to be held liable for missing a shot they checked on the list.

Odi and Scattashot, Would you mind I post the links you gave us to here: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/...d.php?t=138477?

I am trying to centralize the very useful wedding photography links in one place and give them bold title for easy search later...Not only for me but for all newbies like me.. thanks.
