The YN-622C-TX Controller has just been released; a good time to finish off the old thread and start part 2.

Version 4.06 of TOYUG (The Other YN-622C User Guide") is now available. It includes information on using the 622C-TX.

Any feedback/correction is appreciated. My thanks to the many users who have contributed to TOYUG, and especially for editorial help with version 4 from Phil Weston, UK.

Thanks, too, to Lianggc for creating such useful devices, and sharing insights with us.

Who is going to be first to get their 622C-TX?

Mine is still on the way through Singapore to NZ. We have a time advantage - it'll be Monday morning in 20 hours.

Whereas some of us will have to wait another 32 hours. In the meantime, just to stave off the boredom till Postman Pat comes whistling up the driveway to the front door (yes, delivery to the door in UK), here's ......

Yes. The YN form is called "Super Sync", with an adjustable timing available in the C-TX.

Thanks so much Clive for all of your hard work putting together TOYUG! I can honestly say it was hard to say whether I was more anxiously awaiting the receipt of my new YN622C-TX or your new version of TOYUG. Yongnuo makes the wonderful equipment we all enjoy but your guide truly brings it to life. Again, thank you!

I got mine yesterday. Haven't tested super sync with my photogenics yet but will try it today. The focus beam is dead center on mine.

Question, in the in camera menu, I see option for 5 groups but cant enable group 4 or group 5. Is there a way to enable them and work for the 622s? Thanks

The YN-622C only supports 3 groups (As far as I know) Unless there is some firmware trickery going on with newer 622 units, I believe 3 groups is all you get.

Yep, I believe older canon E-TTL system works with 3 groups(like 580Ex as master, or 622C-TX) and newer version with canon RT system have five.

I ordered a 622C-TX that has finally reached NY and is on the way. I also ordered an Godex AD-360 and FT-16 that is still on the slow boat from China. Hopefully, I'll get them both by the end of next week.

Super Sync: IGBT vs Votlage

I was testing the 622C-tx. It works pretty well even at 1/8000 at full power on my Photogenic 1250 DR (Voltage). But I cant seem to get it to work with my Photogenic solair 500dr (IGBT) even at its longest flash (full power). I tried changing the time delay on the C-tx unit but no luck.

1) Is there an optimal setting for IGBT?

2) Also i've always wondered, how does one meter for SS/HSS?

Shutter speed, ISO, aperture, and flash to subject distance. Juggle those for the results you want.

I've "juggled" those based on chimping... I figured people had a simpler or at least more precise way.

Consider - how many groups can you set the 622C receiver to? Three.

Yeah, me too, and the histogram. Outdoors adds ambient to the mix; more fun. :)
