Took delivery this morning. took this tonight at work.
I'd say its usable at 1.4, very usable. straight out of camera. ![]()

Tis a great lens, indeed! You have to respect the super shallow DOF and take multiple shots with re-focuses to make sure you don't miss it unless you are far away), the DOF up close is about an inch

This is an 100 crop from about 10th of the image
Shot at f1.4 Note the detail in the mans hair, note the splendid CA of the boy's shirt!

Here's one shot with the EF 50mm f1.4 on a 5D. Av was 1.4. ISO was 1600. Tv was 1/100. Cheers.
